Sunrise on Pancake Bay

The first morning here I took advantage of my penchant for early rising, and walked along the beach to appreciate the sunrise. I started out, walking alone, in the semi-darkness, involuntarily matching my gait to the rhythm of the waves gently advancing and retreating on the shore. In fact the entire hour was only shared with 4 other people – a lone fisherman who waded out into the Lake presumably to catch his breakfast; a man who appeared to be searching for a cell signal since he stared only at his phone, not even glancing at the spectacular sunrise in front of him; a woman playing with a tiny dog for a short time; and finally a second fisherman, trying his luck.

I can’t help but realize that if I were able to start all my days like this, life would be better for everyone! Starting each day with exercise, perspective, appreciation, and an overwhelming sense of peace can’t help but affect the outcome of the rest of the day. I do try to do that in the course of my everyday living, but here it’s impossible not to be set up for success! Of course when your days are spent exploring the spectacular Canadian outdoors on foot and on bicycle, sharing delicious meals and excellent wine with long-time friends, laughing until you cry while playing silly games in your cozy trailer or sitting by a roaring campfire beside the lap of waves before snuggling down for the night, with the whole experience on repeat for tomorrow, well honestly, if you’re not thankful for your blessed life, there’s something wrong with you!

The following pictures are presented in the order that they were taken. Simply a record of a sunrise stroll. The shifting colours were fascinating!
First glimpse of bright sky, long before sunrise

The spectrum of colours increases

Solitude

Well not absolute solitude!

Fall colours, definitely present

Colours changing again the closer we get to sunrise

My first people siting of the day

Sunrise over the picnic table

Along driftwood

Across the beach

Kissing the plants

The moment before it's swept out into the lake

My company

On my return, my early morning fisherman had a buddy
